Filter the laptop section down to one machine

On OLX.ua open Electronics and go to the laptops category. Type the model and chip into the search box, for example MacBook Air M2 or Dell XPS 13, then pick your city or region, set a price range in hryvnia, choose the used condition and, if you prefer buying from a person rather than a shop, the private seller option. Sort by newest and copy the address of the results page.

The mistake of searching OLX for plain „MacBook“

Type only MacBook and the results mix chargers, broken boards, cases and machines from 2015. Put that into Telegram and the chat becomes noise you learn to ignore, which defeats the point of an alert.

Write the search the way you would describe the machine to a friend: model, chip, RAM and a storage size, with a price ceiling a little under what such a laptop usually goes for. A narrow search sends fewer cards, and you open every one of them.

Checks before money changes hands

Battery first: ask for a screenshot of the cycle count from System Information, under Power. Then ask the seller to sign out of their Apple ID and switch off Find My Mac while you watch, and erase the machine. If Activation Lock is still on afterwards, you cannot set it up as your own.

Be careful with laptops that used to belong to a company. A Mac enrolled in device management can show a remote management screen during setup, naming the organisation; ask the seller to have it released before you pay. Type the serial number into Apple’s coverage check to confirm the model and any remaining warranty, and test every key, the trackpad, each port and the camera.

One Telegram chat for several laptop hunts
