Why rare items on OLX are gone by the evening

Many collectibles on OLX Pakistan come from house clearances: a family in Karachi emptying a grandfather’s cupboard posts a tin of old coins or a box of records at a price that reflects a quick sale, not their value. Dealers and serious collectors watch for exactly those ads. The seller usually answers the first sensible message and stops replying after that.

A Telegram card lets you see the photo and decide in a moment. Often the photo alone tells you whether a coin is silver or a watch is the model you collect.

Several narrow hunts instead of one wide net

Collectors tend to want one thing badly: British India coins, pre-1971 stamps, HMT or Seiko watches, Lollywood posters. Give each of these its own search with the words sellers actually write, including common misspellings. A broad „antique“ search across the country can stay muted as a background browse while the narrow ones keep their sound.

Spotting reproductions and fakes

Copies of old coins, brass items and watches are common. Ask for clear photos of both sides, of the back of the watch and of any marks or stamps. Compare weight and size with references if you can. Be cautious about ads that use catalogue pictures rather than photos of the item.

Inspect in person when possible, meet in a public place, and avoid paying in advance to a seller you cannot meet. For a valuable piece, take someone who knows the field.

Telegram as a shared folder with a fellow collector

Forward a card to a friend who collects the same things and ask what they think, or keep a group chat where both of you receive alerts. The same chat is on phone and desktop, and the photo stays with the link for later reference.
