New listings land in your inbox
Let each check report in one mail
A check that finds new gear sends one email listing every new item with title, price, a link to the listing and the photo when the seller added one. A quiet check sends nothing.

Do you know which year of that guitar you want?
Players often chase a specific era: a guitar from before a factory move, a synth revision with the better filter, a pedal from the first production run. The model name alone pulls in reissues and copies. Add the year or serial range to your search words where sellers usually write them, and keep a separate search for the reissue if you would accept one.
Pedals and small modules are easy to narrow by exact model. Big instruments benefit from a price floor too, which filters out the cheap look-alikes and the parts listings.
Shipping a guitar or a keyboard from another country
Instruments are fragile and often bulky. Read the item location and the shipping cost to your country, ask how the seller will pack it (a hard case, detuned strings, a double box for a keyboard) and allow for import duties or VAT that may be charged on arrival.
Electronics add a voltage question: vintage synths and amps were built for their home market, so check the power supply before you plan to plug in. For gear made with protected tonewoods, such as some rosewoods, ask whether cross-border paperwork is needed. Check the seller’s feedback and returns; eBay has buyer protection for purchases that go wrong.
Asking the right questions about used gear
For a guitar: neck relief, fret wear, any repairs or refinishes, whether the electronics crackle. For a synth: do all keys and voices work, any replaced parts, does it hold patches. For an amp: when was it last serviced. Request a short sound clip if the description is thin; serious sellers usually send one.
Inbox habits for a long gear search
A gear search can run for months. A folder for the mails turns them into a price log: you see what the same model was listed at in spring and in autumn, and you recognise a fair price when it finally shows up.
Where the mail lands is your provider’s decision. After the first match, check spam or the Promotions tab, mark the mail as wanted and add the sender. Every mail has an unsubscribe link.
Free covers one search checked every 30 minutes and one address; Starter, $5.99, five searches every 10 minutes and one address; Pro, $14.99, twenty searches, the fastest checks and three addresses.
❓Frequently asked questions
Will I hear about auctions ending?
No. You hear about new listings that enter your search.
Can I follow a guitar and a pedal at the same time?
Yes, as two searches. That needs Starter or Pro, since Free covers one.
Does the mail include the seller’s description?
It includes the title, price and link; the full description and photos are on eBay.
Can my bandmate get the same mails?
On Pro, up to three addresses can receive them. Free and Starter send to one.
Will old listings flood the first mail?
No. The first check only notes what is there; mails start with gear listed afterwards.
