Source stock for resale on eBay with email alerts

Reselling is decided at the moment you buy, and an email for each new underpriced lot in your eBay searches lets you work through sourcing like a to-do list instead of a doom-scroll.

3 steps

Set up in a minute

  1. Search on eBay, sort by newest

Write one search per buy rule

Each sourcing rule becomes an eBay search: a category, a brand or a phrase like „job lot“, a condition, and a maximum price that leaves your margin. Set item location or ships-to so the stock can actually reach you, choose Buy It Now if you buy on fixed prices, sort by Newly listed and copy the link.

  2. Copy the link, paste it into mxsender

Load the searches into MXSender with email

Paste each link on the MXSender website or in our Telegram bot, pick email, and give each search a name you will recognise in a subject line, such as „lens lots under 200“. Telegram can be switched on for the urgent ones.

  3. New listings land in your inbox

    Work through the mail

Each check with new matches sends one email listing them all with title, price, link and a photo when the seller included one. Searches with nothing new stay silent.

The margin is in the total, not the bid

A lot that looks cheap on the listing page can lose money once everything is added: shipping to you, import duties or VAT if it crosses a border, your selling fees, your shipping to the end buyer, and the odd item that turns out broken. Work out your ceiling from the resale price backwards and put that figure into the eBay price filter, so the mails only show listings that can still pay.

Item location matters for the same reason. Stock that has to cross an ocean before you can relist it ties up cash and time; limiting the search to your region often beats a slightly lower price far away.

Where resellers find underpriced listings on eBay

Misspelled titles, vague descriptions like „box of old cameras“, mixed lots from house clearances and items listed in the wrong category are the classic sources. They do not sit forever: other resellers run the same searches. Seeing them soon after they are listed is the edge.

Keep searches tight and specific. One for a brand you know well, one for job lots in a niche you can grade, one for common misspellings of a model name. Broad searches turn the mail into a catalogue.

Checks before you commit cash

Read the seller’s feedback and how long they have been selling, look at every photo for missing parts, and read the return policy. For branded goods, make sure you can verify authenticity before you resell. eBay has buyer protection for purchases that go wrong; read the terms for lots and used items. Never assume a seller ships to your country until the listing confirms it.

An inbox that works like a sourcing queue

Mails can be filed, flagged and searched. A rule that sorts each search into its own folder turns the alerts into a queue you clear twice a day, and a record of what similar lots were listed at.

Your provider decides whether the mail reaches the inbox. After the first match, check spam or Promotions, mark it as wanted and add the sender. Each mail has an unsubscribe link.

Free: one search every 30 minutes, one address. Starter, $5.99: five searches every 10 minutes, one address. Pro, $14.99: twenty searches, the fastest checks, three addresses for a partner or an assistant.
