Furniture bargains on eBay, with new finds by email

Furniture on eBay is often sold for collection only, so the bargain goes to a buyer nearby who sees it early, and an email from your search puts you in that place.

3 steps

Set up in a minute

  1. Search on eBay, sort by newest

Search furniture with distance in mind

Search the piece, such as a teak sideboard, an office chair by model or a solid oak dining table, in the home and garden furniture category. Set condition and a price range, and use item location to keep results within driving distance; where eBay offers a local pickup option, tick it. Sort by Newly listed and copy the link.

  2. Copy the link, paste it into mxsender

Paste the link into MXSender and pick email

On the MXSender website, paste the link, choose email and confirm your address. Telegram can be added to the same search later. A clear name like „Teak sideboard 50 km“ helps.

  3. New listings land in your inbox

Get one email with the new pieces

When a check finds new listings, one email lists them all with title, price, a link to eBay and a photo when the seller posted one. Quiet checks send nothing.

Collection-only listings are where the deals hide

Big furniture is expensive to post, so many sellers on eBay list it for pickup only and price it to go. That narrows the buyers to people nearby, which is good for you, but those people also look. A sideboard at a fair price may get several messages on its first evening.

With the search saved, the email comes soon after the piece is listed, on your plan’s check interval, and you can arrange a pickup while others are still scrolling.

Measure twice, message once

Before you write to a seller, know your space: the width of the wall, the height under a window, the stairs and doors the piece has to pass. Ask the seller for exact dimensions if the listing does not give them. Check the photos for veneer chips, water rings, wobbly legs and smells the camera cannot show; ask about pets and smoke for upholstered pieces.

For designer pieces, ask for a photo of any label or stamp, and be cautious of famous names on unusually low prices.

Inbox habits for a slow furniture hunt

Furnishing a flat takes weeks. Emails let you keep candidates in one folder, compare a chair from Tuesday with one from Friday, and forward the shortlist to whoever shares the home. Free and Starter send to one address; Pro sends to three.

Your mail provider decides where new senders go, so check spam after the first match, mark the mail as wanted and add the sender to contacts. Every mail ends with an unsubscribe link.

Paying and transporting the piece

Pay through eBay so its buyer protection can apply, even for pickup, and be careful with sellers who ask for payment some other way. Read their feedback. If the piece must be shipped, get the cost first, and remember that furniture from another country may bring import duties or VAT on top. Bring help and blankets on pickup day.

Free checks one search every 30 minutes; Starter, $5.99, five every 10 minutes; Pro, $14.99, twenty with the fastest checks.

❓Frequently asked questions

Can I search for a sofa and a desk at the same time?

Yes, as two searches on Starter or Pro. Free covers one.

Does the email show whether pickup is required?

Often the title says so; the link opens the listing with the delivery options.

Can I change the distance later?

Yes. Adjust the location on eBay, copy the new link and replace it in MXSender.

Will I hear about every listing already there?

No. The first check notes the current results; you get mail only for later ones.

Can a flatmate get the same emails?

On Pro you can add up to three addresses. On Free and Starter, forward the mail.
