Why does a good teak dining set vanish by the afternoon?

Because furniture sellers on OLX Indonesia are usually in a hurry. An expat family leaving Kemang has a container date; a couple moving from a rented house in Dago has a handover on Saturday. They price to clear the room, not to get the last rupiah, and they answer the first serious message with a time to collect.

Solid jati and rattan pieces last for decades and hold their value, so the gap between a moving-sale price and a showroom price can be wide. People who know this watch closely. An alert simply lets you watch as closely without staring at the site.

The photo decides: furniture cards in a Telegram chat

With furniture, you know in one look whether a sofa’s colour will work, whether a wardrobe is real wood or chipboard, whether the table is the size the title claims. The Telegram card puts that photo in front of you with the price beside it, so most ads are decided before you open them.

Keep separate searches for separate rooms; each has its own hashtag, so the sofa hunt and the bed hunt never blur. Forward a card to your partner before you call. Mute the search that can wait, and use Telegram Desktop when you want to see the photo larger.

Real jati, termites and the cost of a pickup truck

Ask the seller whether a piece is solid teak or veneer over particle board, and look at an unfinished edge or the underside to check. Small holes or fine powder can mean termites; you do not want rayap moving into your house with the cabinet.

Budget for transport. A pickup or a box truck across Jakarta costs real money, and large wardrobes may need to come apart. Pay when the piece is in front of you, and be wary of anyone who wants a booking fee by transfer before a viewing.
